Residential Committee Meeting held at Chester Retreat House

Fourteen members of the National Committee had a lovely weekend from Friday 29th until Sunday 1st October staying at Chester Retreat House in the Cathedral Close. Our accommodation and meeting rooms were spacious and pleasant with an informal  family feel to it. For me, it was a delightful mix of socialising and chatting over drinks in a historic pub, participating in the Myers Briggs workshops to discover my personality type, visiting family and sight-seeing and working through the business side of the weekend. It was a real pleasure having time to chat with other members of the committee and sharing experiences in a way that's impossible during an ordinary committee meeting. It was also very special attending the 8 o'clock Prayer Book Service in the Cathedral, sitting in the choir stalls.

The only real damper to the weekend was a very slow, crowded journey home. Why does British Rail always do engineering works when I want to travel? BR always manage to arrange the timings of buses so that you just miss your train! Thank you to those who arranged the weekend.. Come to Sussex next time. We, Southerners, will make the committee welcome!
